Baseball Playoffs Are Here……
October 2, 2007And that means until the World Series is over, I will not talk about hockey (althought I am watching my hockey pools very closely). So right now, I will start off with the American League. Because we all know that the American League is stronger in both hitting and pitching. And it is most likely that the winner will come out of the AL, more specifically the AL East.
The first matchup is that of the Boston Red Sox, and the Anahiem Angels. Both of these teams have their strong points, and I can see this series going 5 games. I do think that the Angels have a much better team than the Red Sox, and that should come to pass as the Angels will defeat Boston in 5 games. Now just because I am a Yankee fan doesn’t mean that I have a hate on for Boston. But let’s just say as long as they don’t advance in the playoffs it will be “happy happy joy joy” singing for me.
The second matchup is that of the New York Yankees, and Clevland Indians. Most of what I can say will be biased to the fact that I am a Yankees fan. But really when you look at it. Anything less than advancing to the ALCS, and the World Series for the Yankees will be a bust season. Not only are they the highest paid team in the majors. They have many of the brightest youngest, and older talent there is out there. The “Evil Empire” should advance. I say this one will be over in 4 games.
Now on to the National League, where there are some pretty hot teams comming out of the gates down the stretch.
The first matchup that I would like to mention is the one between the Colorado Rockies, and the Philidelphia Phillies. The Rockies are so hot right now that I am thinking that they will roll over Philly in 4 games. I know it really seems impossible considering the first two games will be in Philly itself. But It’s going to be a split series, then returning to Colorado where the Rockies will win two in a row over the Phillies. First off the Rockies have both the hitting and the pitching to over come the Phillies. Look for the Rockies to compete in the NLDS, and possibly the World Series.
The Second Matchup is that of the Chicago Cubs, and Arizona Diamondbacks. Apart from what I see comming out of Chicago, and that is a more diciplined team, with veterans, and young stars. I don’t think the Diamondbacks have what it will take for them to advance into the next round. This will be my first pick for a sweep also. Cubbies in 3 (and really why not they cubbies last won the WS in 99 years ago.)
So those are my predictions for what is up and comming. I really can’t think of anything else to write about, other than the play at the plate last night was so called wrong by the Umpire, but it allowed the Rockies to get into the post season this year. And it’s great controversies like that, when the team advances far (possibly the World Series). Then it begs the question should there be video replays in MLB? Yes, I think so……the time will come, in the near future.
Red Sox hating is so 1999.
The Red Sox have the better team, the better bull pen and better pitching.
Just remember that the Angels own NY.
